Thanks again, Alexis, for this great talk. I had to leave the session before the Q&A was done, but I had a question about the Commerce Clause and how it was use/abused by the Fed gov to get top down control of our food systems. Is Wickard v. Filburn the case on which all other decisions involving the Commerce Clause rests? If it were overturned, would the whole edifice of protecting the "welfare" of the people fall?

received a response from Alexis to your question:

[ That’s a really good question, but I honestly have no idea. I don’t see the Supreme Court scaling back Congress’s Commerce Clause powers anytime soon, so I wouldn’t suggest that as a legal strategy.

I really like what the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) is doing, organizing localities to declare their sovereignty and trying to establish the right to local sovereignty in state constitutions and eventually at the federal level.

Still, it’s hard not to apply common sense and see Wickard as wrongly decided and a terrible overreach of Congressional authority.

Hope that’s helpful! ]

Wow Don, what a great job breaking the presentation down into these shorter clips. Are you putting these out on X?
